A community-driven nonprofit raising the social, economic and environmental well-being of vulnerable populations across the Democratic Republic of Congo.
FAMA ASBL (Fondation Abwe Mwendanababo pour l'Autopromotion) was founded on 30 February 2022 in the city of Baraka, Sud-Kivu province, Democratic Republic of Congo.
Our birth was a response to a decade of socio-economic and political hardship in eastern DRC — a decision by concerned citizens to contribute to the social promotion of vulnerable people and the sustainable development of their communities.
As a nonprofit, apolitical and non-denominational organization, we are registered under law N° 004/2001 governing associations without lucrative purpose in the DRC.
To contribute to improving the living conditions of vulnerable people and strengthen their socio-economic capacities for their social well-being.
Empowered, resilient communities where every person — regardless of background — has access to education, health, livelihoods and a safe environment.
“L'élévation du social c'est notre priorité.” — Raising the social is our priority.
